What…?
Some things just don’t make any sense to me. Take this for instance:
“One of the main things that I have learned is that a woman that negotiates infidelity with her partner is far more powerful than a woman who is sitting home wondering why he’s late from the office Christmas party,” – Holly Hill, former “mistress”
Negotiated infidelity? This reminds me of Jesus and a little incident on a mountain top:
Again the Devil takes Him to a very high mountain, and he showed to Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him. I will give all these things to You if falling down, You will worship me. – Matthew 4:8-9
So let me get this straight; all of creation belongs to Jesus, and Satan says that if Jesus will fall down and worship him, Satan will give Jesus all of the kingdoms of the world. This is supposed to make sense?
So how does this “mistress” remind me of this incident? She asserts that a woman can gain power over her partner if she will negotiate permission for the infidelity that her husband was already engaged in. He was already fooling around, but at least he’s not going behind her back? So in what way is that gaining power? It’s the exact same deception and it works just about as well; that is, not at all.
It occurs to me that suckers fall for this ploy every single day. I wonder how many people end up buying something that they could have had on their own for free. Bottled water comes to mind. Just because it’s in a bottle you buy it for twice the price of a gallon of gasoline.
The solution to this problem is the very solution offered by Jesus:
Then Jesus said to him, Go, Satan! For it has been written: “You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve Him only.” – Matthew 4:10
