The Spittin’ Image of Your Father
God has said, “Prove me now that I may prove myself to those that seek me, those that doubt me and that those who hate me may know for a certainty that I am God and they are without excuse. I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I am the God that appeared to Moses in the burning bush that was not consumed, the God who destroyed Pharaoh and the first born of every creature in Egypt, the God of David that slew Goliath, God who created, provided for, preserved mankind, and sent my son to be a mediator between God and man.”
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
“I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). And Jesus looking upon them said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19: 26; Mark 10:27).
There is no mystery in this one bit of truth. How is it that those whom one meets knows he is from a certain family, clan or tribe? When they encounter him he reveals the same characteristics, has the same mannerisms and acts like his family. In short he is a a living, walking image of the people he comes from; family traits and characteristics are familiar and obvious when anyone looks at him.
God hasn’t a bodily form; He is pure Spirit and those that obey Him display the same characteristics as He does. That can only be achieved through submission in subjection to His Son as King of kings and Lord of lords through His Holy Spirit.
How does one “prove God?” There is only one way this is at all possible. It can only come through someone who reached the end of human ability; in despair cried out to God and received an answer. God freed that person and delivered him out of his dilemma. He has come to know God with a strong desire never more to be apart from Him.
He has personally proved God and finds Him the answer to every human need and desire. He has found the solution to the problems that plagued him and has a desire to know more about the one who has befriended him, i.e., who he is and is transcendent above all that he has done.
It is the highest, most secure and most intimate relationship known to man. He has a most perfect father/child relationship with his Creator purchased by the Creator’s only son who is a patient loving mediator between them; the one who knows and loved him when there was enmity between them.
He has found the one perfectly true friend who will never leave, forsake nor betray him. He wants to introduce that friend to every one who is in need as he was. In as much as is possible he has come to appear, speak, possess the same characteristics and act as his friend (Lord) does. He has no desire to get gain from those he introduces to his friend. His reward comes from knowing he has done the greatest good for those who can only have their need met by the God who created them.
The only way to “prove” Him is to glorify God by practicing all He has revealed in His Word through being transformed “by the renewing of your mind” (born again of the Spirit) and submit in subjection to His Spirit and allow Him to conform you into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The more precisely one obeys God the better he is able to prove Him! It is a matter of subjecting one’s will to God’s will in so far as one is able. The more perfect one is willing and able to do this the greater is the glory to God! It is not a one time thing it is a life time work. God alone is worthy to receive all that he requires of us and he will amply, abundantly reward all those that do!
Where the Spirit of God is revealed by His Word through His children there the glory of God will be apparent and obvious to all that seek Him. “Seek” God and “you shall find” all your heart’s desire! You have His promise!
- Has received through revelation the authority and power of Christ given him by God and is willingly submitted in subjection to both
