Obvious Intercession

NOT ACTUAL ACCIDENT PHOTO

How many times has it been said in our hearing, “why does’t God send a direct obvious message?” Regardless of why or how this circumstance has occurred everyone at one time or another, has been impelled to ask that question. Yet it should be obvious to the most casual observer that each of us has been given that precise blessing. It is possible that the answer was shrugged off, walked away from with out recognizing what actually happened.

Recently, a certain man determined in his mind to end his own life. For some reason he had found it impossible to continue living. He went up the roof of a building, took off his glasses, laid them down on the parapet before him, stepped up on it and walked off into what he may well have thought was nothingness.

The man fell four hundred feet to the lower street level expecting to pass on into oblivion or whatever else he may have had in his mind. He did not reach the ground, or the pavement, he collided with a car parked at the curb. Needless to say, there was extensive damage done to his body which required several doctors several hours to fix by a partial reconstruction to his body; but, he survived the fall and is still alive. [You may “Google” this and read the details if you like].

Call it what you will; either someone or something (depending on whether one holds an evolutionary or religious view of the world) precluded the intent of that person, spoiling his attempt to bring on his own death.

When one considers the myriad circumstances that placed the car where it was; the multitude of persons involved in placing that car there at that particular time and the particulars involved; that was a miracle. He happened to fall on the part of the car that did less damage than other parts would exact. Car manufacturers, random acts of people, traffic, could not randomly arrange the things necessary to bring about such a feat. A good movie production company could arrange it, but not without planning on a grand scale; i.e. intelligent design.

Some reporters that covered this news item gave credit to the construction of the vehicle. The manufacturers of the vehicle took their share of the credit for saving a life. Some may give God indirect kudos by saying an angel or angels were responsible. Others may say God saved him; but, few will give the credit due to the real hero. He is the the savior of the world, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.

From a Christian viewpoint only one is able to perform this kind of miracle; Jesus Christ died for the sins of the entire world. When this man broke the laws of physics by stepping off that building he sinned against God. “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). To God be the glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Will this man repent the evil he sought to do to one “created in the image and likeness of God?” Pray, Christian, that he will do so or someone will be sent to witness “truth” to Him that he may repent and Give God the glory!
