De facto vs. De jure

These words from the Pete Seeger anti-war song show us one thing that is certain; the repetition of the mistakes of men. How do we do this? How do we keep making the same mistakes over and over again? We don’t listen. We allow ourselves to be duped into believing something is true, when it is merely repetition.

De facto means “in practice but not necessarily ordained by law” or “in practice or actuality, but without being officially established.1″ It is a practice by consensus or popular expectation, but not a practice established through the rigor of the enactment of law. De jure means literally “concerning law” and is a contrast to de facto; its antithesis. There is another process known as desuetude which may allow de facto practices to replace obsolete de jure. But, what laws are considered obsolete?
A government receiving it’s power to rule by the consent of the governed has become passé. A government of representatives, elected by secret ballot by one’s peers in order to present the will of the electorate in issues debated in congress by de-jure no longer exists. Congress, by de-facto, has bypassed the will of the people and now dictates to the electorate. Every two years the political pundits go through the motions, spend millions of dollars, raise millions more in order to present the same candidates for election. They hold elections and swear in the winners; but, that’s where the connection to the electorate ends. Once elected, these representatives, as a group, dictate where the nation will go. Politically, the largest coalition of like-minded members push the minority aside and dictate the terms.
For a long time now the balance in government was maintained because no one group had managed to gain sufficient numbers over the other groups to create an absolute rule over the system. This last election cycle the balance swung so far to the left that the majority fell into the hands of a single group. A de-facto dictatorship now governs this nation.
To enforce this control, the majority party (with the aid of mass media) engage in character assassination against any person or movement that attempts to bring back government of, by and for the people. The “Tea Party” is now being attacked by the ruling news media. They are being systematically “crucified” by the elite liberal intelligencia. In military terms this is called divide and conquer. In Marxist terms this is called initializing class warfare.
The present administration uses de-facto or de-jure at will to administer rule of the masses. Whichever of these two concepts that fits their agenda at the moment and which drives the narrative they need is fed through the conventional media. What ever is “politically correct” dominates the written and broadcast news services. This is not by mandate of the White House. It’s a message that fits their world view. Most of the established media are governed by former hippies from the socialist awakening of the 1960’s. They, in principle, generally agree with the ideals of socialism expressed by this current administration.
De jure and de facto – in their vocabulary – are interchangeable; the one which fits the narrative at the moment is the one to be used. In each situation they may change from one to the other. If it is most profitable to use desuetude to claim the absolution of any given statute, they will be happy to do so. According to this leadership it has become the right of the ruling elite, those who won the election to dictate without debate. From there it’s easy to convince the “common man.” Most common men don’t care, or don’t feel as though their input would make any difference. Many believe that the system is designed to vacillate between left and right, and that we’re really just in a left phase, to be followed by a swing to the right.
Progressivism is governance by whim or caprice not government by law. It is a dictatorship where the dictatorial force is not an individual, but a small cabal of like-minded despots. Where law supports their efforts that law is used with force. When law is a hinderance to the agenda they proclaim there is no absolute law; it is arbitrary and subject to interpretation.
This disease has been with us from the dawn of man, but in our time we are witnessing the advent of world rule by fiat of dictatorship. It is taking over the highest political offices in the world. The Darwinian law of the jungle is the basis for their justification; the strong dominate the weak. Darwin was never about the physical strength of the animal. He was always centered on the intellect. The “higher” forms are the “smarter” forms, thus the ascendency of man. The pedagogue by right of educational superiority rules over the soldier hero. This is the struggle coming to the forefront.
The common masses must be controlled, either by power or fear of power administered absolutely in order for the ruling elite to be kept securely in power and keep order; in their estimation, order must be maintained by force by the intellectual elite who have evolved to that august station through evolution. They are, in essence, Nietzsche’s supermen; the men who kill gods.
God, or any benevolent being, has been replaced by man. But, the only thing capable of keeping the huddled masses (those who are less evolved in their understanding) in line is force. This is due process through the barrel of a gun (Chairman Mao).
While the masses remain silent there is no one or nothing to hold accountable those who seek – at any cost – to govern after their own agenda government and who run amuck, brutally trampling down their opposition. So many sit idly by, wringing their hands and crying, “woe is me, woe is me. If only some one would come and defend us!” They look for their superman, not realizing that they have already received what they have asked for.
This is not novel, or new. The ruling religious priests of every society have always cowed and dominated the masses through mysticism. From time to time it has been convenient for secular rulers to use them to their advantage. They have – through the power of the gods they serve – set themselves apart as a special class. They become men behind the curtain, each of them an instance of the great and wonderful “Wizard of Oz.” Today is no different. Christianity has been infiltrated at every level with preachers, priests and pastors who hold mysteries for a price; and the price is usually your subservience.
Christianity is the only worship system where the mysteries are not hidden; the Greek word “musterion” (translated into English, “mystery”) used in scripture is knowledge revealed; not mysteries hidden and only known by the few. The practical language of the Bible is revelation, God reveals to those that subject themselves to Him. There are no secrets with God and there are no men to whom God entrusts secrets. With God there are only eternal, immutable truths that have been proclaimed for all men to see and hear, not subject to the influence of de facto reasoning. They are de jure.
“The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: therefore from henceforth you shalt have wars” (II Chronicles 16:9). In this verse the underlying reason for wars and strife is revealed.
It is only necessary to put faith in God and ask. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids (scolds) not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5). “The Comforter, which is the Holy [Spirit], whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you” (John 16:7). Here is the underlying reason for Christ’s earthly ministry, He came to seek the lost, to save or preserve their souls, and reconcile mankind to God as he was in the original creation. Believe this and live; reject it and die.
