Resistance Is Futile

by Isaiah Roman

Star Trek: The Next Generation invented an overarching bad guy as a nemesis for the United Federation of Planets. They were called the Borg. The concept for this enemy was that these aliens travelled the galaxy, assimilating civilizations into their collective. A subsequent movie revealed that they were a form of mechanical bee hive with an electronic neural link instead of pheromones. Slowly and inexorably they marched across the galaxy, destroying and consuming all sentient life. It is, of course, an analogy, a grand metaphor, but I don’t think the authors realize what they were really saying.

The Doctrine of Destiny Part 3: The Christ

by Isaiah Roman

A great deal of time has been spent amongst Christians arguing over whether the Bible teaches predestination or free will. These arguments assume that it’s an either-or proposition. Is there was a way to reconcile the nature of God and these two seeming contrarieties of predeterminism and free will? The question has already been answered, several times. All we have to do is read that answer.

The Doctrine of Destiny Part 2: Free Will

by Isaiah Roman

If determinism, or predeterminism doesn’t fit the personality of God, then what does? Some propose the concept of Free Will. This is the idea that each person has the free, individual right, to decide their own destiny. If you have free will, complete free will, then you, as the individual, are responsible for your own actions, but you are also responsible for your own successes. The modern concept of Libertarianism comes from this simple, yet powerful ideology. The idea that a man is responsible for his own actions is a basically moral truth, but like all truth, the idea must be based on something True.

The Doctrine of Destiny Part 1: Determinism

by Isaiah Roman

Anyone who has had to take basic requirements for any collegiate course has been exposed to the subject of philosophy. Most people have had some basic introduction to the concept of philosophy, but I would wager that most people haven’t taken the time to look at how philosophy, as a study, has influence our world. There is a war going on in academia. This is an old war, and some believe that the war is over. At the heart of this war is the basic reason for the existence of Western Civilization. The very existence of things like democracy, federalism, corporations, worker’s unions, all of these things, came from somewhere.

Heritage of the Servants of God

The situation: A large host of Judah’s enemies, Ammon and Moab1 set themselves to invade Judah and address past grievances. In response, Jehoshaphat sought the Lord in prayer and God answered his prayer. The army of Judah went out to meet them.

Covenants

Coalescence of Contrarieties

by Isaiah Roman

All things meet at the cross. Time, space and energy, in so many ways, meet at the singular event of history known as the crucifixion. Removing that knowledge is the first step in releasing mankind from the “bonds” of guilt associated with that event. Yet, as this knowledge becomes lost, society itself begins to break. By removing the knowledge of the cross from this world, the underpinnings of society begin to break apart.

New World Order

by Isaiah Roman

The following prophetic verses allow present-day, super-orthodox Jews to define their select position as “the chosen people” and to justify their duty to perfect socialism in the form of the “new world order;” to work zealously and unceasingly for its success in the world today. These passages are the reason for their claim to superiority over the “goyim” (Gentiles) and which gives them the imperative to subjugate all others to the new Israel. This idea of Israel is one where God has created a social and economical (material) kingdom, rather than religious (Spiritual) kingdom. Although it is this idea that drives the orthodox Jew, there are many historical factors which inform this idea, and these combined make it impossible to do anything but ignore all else to bring this world order about. Yet these, as all other circumstances, fulfill God’s will!

Things That Don’t Fit

by Isaiah Roman

I think in interconnections. I find that all things, somewhere down the line, connect. You just have to look for the patterns that connect them. If all things seem to fit into the pattern then the pattern becomes pleasing. Then there are things that simply don’t fit. When examining the physical universe, naturalist physicists attempt to define not only the condition of things, but also the meaning of things. In order to do this they redefine terms, change the ground rules, in order to get the results they want. There are a some things, however, that cannot be answered by examining the natural realm.

One God

by Isaiah Roman

I’ve written several articles about the differences between religious sects and even religions as a whole. It is a matter of personal contention as to how strong a stance one should take on the position of doctrinal differences. Some figures in the popular media like to say that there are certain issues of the faith that we can maintain differences on, as long as we agree on the core essence of our beliefs. I think they would all agree that there are more than significant differences between our beliefs, and the beliefs of other religions. I think that some of this “grey” area is caused by scripture itself.
