Arguing in Circles
Here’s a fun one for you; the Ontological Argument for the Existence of God.
In geometry we’re taught that the line is an infinite projection. We are taught that what we observe is a line segment, which is a finite sub-set of the greater, infinite line. The line segment is illustrated as a drawn line, with a dot at each end. Often this line is shown to have vertical hashes, or “tick marks” along it to indicate subdivisions of length.
All things meet at the cross. Time, space and energy, in so many ways, meet at the singular event of history known as the crucifixion. Removing that knowledge is the first step in releasing mankind from the “bonds” of guilt associated with that event. Yet, as this knowledge becomes lost, society itself begins to break. By removing the knowledge of the cross from this world, the underpinnings of society begin to break apart.
A large part of the debate between Calvinism and Armenianism is the two words predestination and foreknowledge. In the debate there is a common fallacy of the basic nature and character of God that must be understood.
In the realm of religion it’s hard sometimes to talk plainly. The concepts can become convoluted very quickly. In our time it’s specifically difficult because of the proliferation of information. We are exposed to so many different sources of information that it sometimes becomes very difficult to distinguish subject from subject.
The scriptures are full of evidence of the deity of Jesus, the Christ. Anyone who is interested can see it clearly, but clear vision requires that they ask God to make himself known to them through the Word. Yet, more than knowing “what” the Christ is, it should be the aim or desire of man to know “who” he is! It should be our priority to know him as we would endeavor to know another person, and yet even more intimately than this. He is worthy of one’s entire trust.
Posted on the about page is a new pdf titled Theology for the Common Man – Part 1. This is part one of a three part master-work on theology. Part 1 approaches the concept of theology by first addressing the failings of modern thinking in association with religion, theology, and monotheism. The basic underpinnings of philosophical understanding of the concepts wrapped up inside these terms has been corrupted, broken and twisted by modern secularism to a point where even the simple word “faith” has been rendered feckless.
It was never the mind of God to set “ earthly kings” upon Zion, the throne of God.
“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Posted on the “About” page is a new major work titled “The Nature of God.” It took eight years to fully understand the concepts behind the symbol mark that dons this ministry, but the idea for the symbol mark came in one, swift moment. This extended writing is not necessarily new. We have covered much of this material before on this web site, but that information is spread apart between many different articles, and even a podcast or two. This work is a summary of the first eight years of this journey; a journey that I’m sure will go on throughout all eternity.
