Without an agenda, you have no mission.
There used to be a cartoon on called “Pinky and the Brain.” They had a catch phrase. Pinky would ask Brain “What are we going to do today Brain?” and Brain would answer “The same thing we do every day Pinky; try to take over the world!”
Why is Hollywood socialist? I’ve been asking myself that for a long time now. Why is one of the largest capitalist organizations in the entire world so bent towards socialism? How is it possible that a business as large as the Hollywood movie machine so entrenched in the idea of spreading the wealth, when the entirety of their livelihoods are dependent upon the consumer mentality?
It never ceases to amuse and amaze when I hear, as I so constantly do, people trying to mold the world in their own image. I’ve been writing articles about this for three years and every time I turn around, and as I look back I see dozens of articles dancing around this very issue. People want to feel a sense of control, of ownership. We struggle day after day to mold a destiny for ourselves. We strive so hard for a roof, a marriage, a savings, a career… so much toiling for so little.
If you get email, then you get viral emails… you know those ones that get passed around that inevitably end up with some message at the end about passing them on, or keep it going. Sometimes they’re sappy, sometimes they’re disturbing and sometimes they’re actually thought provoking.
Sometimes it’s hard to determine where prophecy ends and life begins. C.S. Lewis wrote a book called “The Screwtape Letters” in which he describes some of the tactics of the enemy. One of those is the pining for the past, another is the dreaming of a future. These two tricks are designed to keep one looking anywhere but the present.
