What is eschatology?

Eschatology comes from the Greek Eschatos meaning “last” and -logy meaning “the study of”, first used in English around 1550. It literally means “study of the last.” The scriptures proclaim the times we currently live in as “the last days.” The term eschatology commonly refers to the study of end-times prophecy concerning the second coming of the Christ. What is soteriology?

Soteriology is derived from the Greek sōtērion “salvation” (from sōtēr “savior, preserver”) + logos (study, or word). It is used to refer to the discussion concerning the meaning, mode and method of salvation. Articles on Soteriology

Why only Jesus the Christ?

All religions are self-exclusive; they all contradict each other in some way. These differences are not in the peripheral issues, but in the core issues. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”(John 14:6) It’s Jesus, or Muhammad, or Buddha, not Jesus and Muhammad and Buddha. Islamic salvation excludes both Jesus and the Christ. Buddhist nirvana includes neither God, nor a savior. Only Jesus the Christ provides the assurance of salvation and proof of his authority to grant that assurance. Articles on Understanding Religion

Which kind of Christianity is the right kind?

Every religion has different sects. These divisions always form over interpretations of doctrine, or more simply, over how someone interprets a teaching of the religion. This is why Christianity – true Christianity – is not a religion. The Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, is a person, not a practice. His promise to all mankind is that if you ask the Father, in the name of the Christ, understanding will be given to you. Unfortunately most adherents of the Christian religion rely upon almost anything but this promise for instruction in understanding. What we find are individuals who are uncomfortable with a teaching in the scripture, or choose to support their own ideas about life by selective use of scripture and who find a way to support their notions through “scriptural rationalizations.” In every case of a division between two people who claim to be Christians, the cause is not God, or the Christ, it is the persons. Knowing which one is right is simply a matter of comparing the person’s views to scripture, all of scripture, and finding out who deviates from the teachings by taking away, or adding to the scriptures. Why only the Bible?

The Bible, as it is assembled today, is not the only historic version of the scriptures we know of, but that doesn’t mean the content of the Bible has changed, nor it’s meaning. The fallacy of most populist skeptics is in the concept that there have been many other scriptural works that were surreptitiously cut from the final cannon of scripture. Another is that the scriptures are late works, subject to manipulation of facts and bad accounts of history. While the texts of the Bible remain in contention, their preservation, consistency and verity have never been disproved. To any who have taken the time to study them, these scriptures stand as a supreme example of divine intervention, and stand above any other work in history. Articles on Defending the Faith

Religion is fine, but God doesn’t pay my bills…

Christianity is not an esoteric study. It relies upon people who live in reality. Unlike what some modern teachers would have you believe, God doesn’t owe you money, or fame, or health. The simple reality is that not everyone is going to be rich, or famous, or powerful. But no child of God will be without resource. There are many religions that try to help you with life’s problems but only one is capable of providing real, practical solutions that work within the trappings of reality; Christianity. While you may have to write the check, it is God who provides the income and the wisdom to use it properly. Articles on Life Issues

Hasn’t science disproved God?

God cannot be disproved by science. Even the most ardent “Anti-theist” Christopher Hitchens admits that God cannot be disproved by science. This is why Mr. Hitchens attempts to use an argument of the probability of the existence of God. It is his contention that the chances for the existence of God are so minimal that belief in God is absurd. The absolute truth is that God, as a personal entity, cannot be empirically proved, or disproved by science. The key is in the word empirical. Science itself cannot be conducted in a purely empirical manner. Some form of rational interpretation must be used. This means that all science is viewed through the lens of the human intellect. The real question is; which intellect? Articles on Apologetics

Why does God make me suffer?

How do you know it’s God that makes you suffer? Some might say that because God is the cause of everything, God must be (ultimately) the cause of evil, bad stuff, suffering. Christianity is the only way to understand that suffering and evil do not come from God, but rather come from a lack of God. How can you have a lack of God? Free Will. If you choose to hate God, he will not only allow you to make that choice, but will also enforce the consequences of that decision. But, there lies the rub; even if you could be a wholly righteous person in this fallen world, there are thousands of unrighteous around you, everywhere, all the time. Their actions will influence you, and effect you; usually for the worse. This is why it is so very important to remember two things; 1) your job is to spread the Gospel with love to minimize the influence of evil and 2) your life here is only a stop-over towards a much longer, eternal life in heaven. Why doesn’t God show us miracles today?

Wouldn’t a miracle cause people to believe in God’s existence? Answer: no. God himself condescended to flesh to walk among men. He performed miracle after miracle and proclaimed His divinity to all who would hear His words. Event then, while he was alive, most of the population didn’t believe in His claims, not because His claims were false, but because they chose not to accept those claims. The evidences for the truth about Jesus are widespread and readily available for anyone who chooses to seek with an open heart and mind. God is not hidden. Salvation is simple and accessible by anyone. What more needs to be done? Articles on God’s Character
